NUJS announces scholarships for online business law course

[The following
announcement is posted on behalf of NUJS, Kolkata]

In light of the encouraging response from young lawyers and law students when the first batch of the diploma course on Entrepreneurship Administration and Business Laws was started last July, NUJS has announced five scholarships for economically backward law students for the second batch of the course.

The course aims to bridge the gap between academia and
practice of law, and has a very diverse composition ranging from students
enrolled in various full-time courses, entrepreneurs and even senior managers
working in a decision making capacity in various organizations. Keeping in view
the increased costs of higher education and the fact that many executive
programmes and vocational courses are extremely expensive, it was felt
necessary to provide support on a need basis to deserving candidates, so that
those in low income groups are not excluded from accessing the course.
The details of the
course are given below, and you can
see the course syllabus at this link. If you know anyone who may benefit from
this information please share the same with them.
The scholarship will be available to below poverty
level students on a first come first served basis. In case there are not enough
applications from such students, other students facing financial difficulty
will be considered on a first come first serve basis.
Last date for application: 20th February, 2013 (consideration of any delayed
applications shall be solely at the discretion of NUJS)

What is taught in the course?

The course is conducted online, and focuses on practical
aspects of business law which are relevant for a corporate lawyer while dealing
with different kinds of transactions for his clients at a law firm – such as
structuring businesses, taking investment into a company, drafting important
business contracts, legal aspects of import-export transactions, how to supply
products and services to the government, obtaining trademark and patent
registrations, negotiating licensing and franchising agreements and some niche
areas such as open-source licensing and cloud computing (interested students can

The course faculty includes practicing lawyers from some of the best Indian law firms, legal advisors to companies and senior government officers.
